Crystal #2 ceramic sculpture - by James Freeman
I work alone in my own studio and perform every step of the process myself, including making my own glazes. All of my pieces are individually crafted. They are either one-of-a-kind or made in very limited runs. I do not employ any mass production techniques, nor do I crank out large batches of “production pottery”. I tend to avoid the use of measuring devices and jigs, so there are subtle differences even amongst members of a small batch. Each piece is therefore a unique expression.

Through the links below, you can see examples of my Sculptural Ceramics, which includes both sculpture and installation pieces, and my Functional and Decorative Pottery. There is of course some overlap between these two categories, so I attempted to define each piece by which characteristic seemed predominant. Many of the pieces on these two pages have gone on to a new home, but some may still be available. If you are interested in a particular piece, please use the Contact link below.

The Ceramics for Sale link will open a new tab on your browser and take you to my Etsy storefront. I try to keep a few decorative and functional pieces on the site, and will occasionally list a sculptural piece.
